Comments: I have a picture of WWHS students from around 1936 and cannot identify everyone. It is a picture of
a club group (remember when we had clubs in school?) The photo will go in the Reflections of Raleigh County
pictorial book and I'd love to be able to identify everyone. It was brought in by Virgil Miller's daughter.
I ran it in the newspaper and Clela Hurst or Casto, as well as Curtis Mills identified a few who are they think:

time of the "Golden Eagle Reunion" -- most people stay at Sleep Inn ... but if anyone will be staying at Country
Inn, let Patsy Herrald or me know. If enough people stay, we can get a "free" room; otherwise, we have to pay
for it!! So being the "cheapies" we are, we'd love to get the room as reasonable as possible.

I found the town not smaller exactly but everything remaining was much closer and compact than I remember. Besides
visiting Jessie I was able to visit with Sam Amato, 1956 and my brother Jim, 1958 who came in for the visit and is planning to move
back to Beckley.

Comments: William Toney Oliver (Bill or Bunne) died October 11, 2000 in Belle Vernon PA after and
extended illness. He was the son of the late Ted B. Oliver and Clara Phillips Oliver of Beckley. He was a
graduate of WWHS class of 1953 or 1954. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Peggy Oliver Miller, JoAnn Oliver
Mann, Nancy C. Oliver Keener. His brother James P. Oliver passed away in February 2003. He is survived by his wife
Marga K. Oliver of Belle Vernon Pa and a daughter Susan O. Diamond and her husband John of FL. He is also survived
by a sister, Phyllis Oliver Huffman of Forest VA, and many neices and nephews. He was buried in Belle Vernon PA. If you

that I went to the University of Washington in Seattle and graduated with a BS Degree
in Electrical Engineering. After that I spent time in Washington, Kansas City, Chicago,
Connecticut and went back to West Virginia for a period of time where I was an assistant
professor at WV Tech for two years. After that I moved to Lynchburg Virginia to manage
an engineering company from which I retired. I now live in a suburb of Lynchburg, Forest
Virginia, with my wife of 37 years who I met in Chicago. We have two boys. We enjoy
camping, traveling and hiking. We are planning on coming to the 50 year reunion of the class

Comments: I had promised to try and add something each month but neither Jeff Miller
nor myself can figure out why my comments do not post. One of life's great
mysteries, I guess.
I just helped put on the Colorado Springs Balloon Classic where, for our
26th effort, we had 103 balloons take off from near the center of town. One
of these days I'd like to fly in it rather than help put it on.
Next month...the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.

Comments: My daughter told me about this site and thought that I should get into the computer world and
drop a note to my class. Jack and I are here still in Beckley. We will celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary
this December! We had 4 children (3 boys and 1 girl) and we have 8 grandchildren. Jack is retired and works on
hunting and fishing all of the time as well as making model airplanes. I retired from the railroad last year and
I still work to keep myself busy...I hate to sit still. Well I guess that is about all for now just thought
I would make my daughter happy and drop a note. See you all around!

Comments: I am glad we have this communications channel available but thought it was
underutilized then realized I was also guilty. I will try to add something
to it every month.
Later this month I am planning to drive to Southern California for a one day
meeting at an aircraft museum there. If I can drive 2400 miles for that I
should be able to get to Southern West Virginia for the first time since
about 1956. Is there something going on this summer that I can hang an
excuse onto?

Retired fron the machanical contractering business December 2000 prestntly teach parts
of the Industrial Technology Curriculum at Trident Technical College in Charleston.
I circlenavigated the globe a couple of times and visited all the continantes in the
world, except for the anartica, before gomming to rest in Charleston. I don't get to
Beckley much and cant put faces to all the names I can recall. Has it been that long?

Comments: I have been in Florida since the early '60's and enjoy it, though
I do miss the cool West Virginia days. I have been married and divorced twice, was
downsized from a Human Resources job last year and still trying to decide what to do "when I grow up."
I have four daughters, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. They all live in Florida.
I went back to college when I was in my 50's and got my B.S. Degree just to prove to myself I
could do it. Life had been hard as a divorced mom. I enjoy my 3rd floor apartment overlooking
the St. John's River. I see dolphins and manatees from time to time. It is such a peaceful view.
One granddaughter, Lydia Bell, is on tour with PYT (she's 15 and from Tampa) who is opening for
98 Degrees in the New England States. They have toured with N'Sync, Destiny's Child, Brittny, others.
I'd love to hear from any of you classmates. I am happy to have found this site.

Comments: Just discovered this website while visiting my sister. Great way to keep
in touch with old classmates. Graduated from Concord College in 1958 and taught school
two years and lived in England for three years. Have been married for 41 years.
Now retired after 28 years of teaching in elementary school. Have two children and

it was held on Labor Day for which I have a prior commitment. Graduate, University

Comments: A year after High School, I married Bill Kershner of Cranberry. That was
46 years ago. We moved to Toledo, Ohio in 1955. Our two sons live near us and 4 of our six
Grandchildren. I went to work for Sears and spent most of those years in Personnel.
Bill went to work for Auburndale-Lathrop. He had 43 years and a VP of the company
when he retired. We are glad to get information on our former classmates. It's good to

Comments: I guess I`m showing my age, I've been thinking a lot
about class mates from good old WWHS. I retired from Sears almost 4
years ago after 28 years in the service department. I have 2
daughters, 5 grandkids, and 2 great-granddaughters (one of which I am
raising, so you can see where a great deal of my time goes.) I still
ride my motorcycle as often as I can...visited Beckley this Summer,
and would love to move back there...maybe one of these days. From
the messages posted, I see everyone has done very well...glad to see
Agnes finally found the right guy with whom to share her life...Some
class mates I've wondered about are Shirley Moodespaugh, Gene
Dickerson, Barbara Richmond, Joey Basham (great roller skater), John
Huffman, but I could go on all day with the list...anyone may feel

Navy as a pilot until 1964. Received PhD in human physiology in 1975
post-doctoral fellow until '82. I started teaching in 1980 which
eventually brought me to Buffalo, NY. I left teaching in 1998 and
started a new career as an artist and a singer. My partner died in
1996. I have lived in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, Tuscon,
New Orleans, Roschester, and Buffalo, and probably some other places
as well. It has taken me a long time to choose to re-connect with old
friends.
