Class of 1955

Our first grandchild was born to my daughter, Amy, last July 3, 2006. (Samantha) We are really enjoying her.

Our youngest son, Stuart and Alicia are expecting in Nov. 2007 so we are excited to get another grandchild before we get to old to take care of them. I have attended all of the reunions and have enjoyed seeing everyone who attends. I am so glad that we continue to have the reunions and I am so thankful to all who work on the different committees and make it so enjoyable. A big thanks to Fern who is our leader. We love her.

I am looking forward to the next reunion and seeing everyone there. I would enjoy hearing from any of you all who would like to write me. It takes me awhile to answer but I will eventually. Tonight was the first time I saw this school alumni page. (6/5/07) I have enjoyed reading about the people who have written in. This would be great if everyone would take the time and write in plus update their information when needed.

God has been so very good to me. We have 2 sons and 2 daughters and 5 grand children It was good to see our classmates at the 50th class get together I and my wife teach Sunday school and hold a men's Bible study. God bless you all

I sent a letter last week but realized I didn't send it to everyone. We're getting to the wire now. Our "big do" is only weeks away. If you haven't made up your mind to come, think about it. We're going to have a great time.

Also, several of the guys have expressed an interest in playing golf. Norman has talked to Bob Gardner and there will be a golf game. If you want to be included, email me and we'll make sure you get the information.

I have been in contact with a photographer. He will be there to take group pictures. He can have them to us in 24 hours after they are taken. Each copy will be 10 dollars.

Several of you ladies have asked what to wear. I've asked around and everyone seems to think comfort is the main thing. No sequins or sparkles. I plan to be very casual on Friday night and a little dressier Sat. Smiling faces are most important.

Everyone I talk to is excited to see old friends and get reacquainted. We'll see you in July. Take care, Ferne

I'm retired from Kennedy Space Center where I worked for 17 years as a quality control inspector for Lockheed Martin/United Space Alliance. I traveled to (Guam, Hawaii, Zaragosa and Seville, Spain, Paris, Moracco, Merschesh, Casablanca, Gambia, Africa, London, Franakfurt, Madrid, Brussels) all over the world to the trans atlantic landing sites in the company of technicians and engineers regarding emergency overseas landings of the space shuttle.

I have four children and seven grandchildren and one 6 yr old great grand child. They live in New York, South Carolina and Florida.

Our reunion is scheduled for July 15th and 16th at the Country Inn and Suites on Harper Road. It is 50.00 per person , which includes the facility, food for two nights and miscellaneous expenses. We have sent two letters with the information. If you did not receive a letter, email me your address and I will send you one. If you just want to send money, that will work, also. The 2005 Golden Eagles Reunion at Little Beaver Lake is scheduled for June 10, 11, 2005. This will be our fourth reunion, and every year it gets better and better. I love meeting all my old classmates and friends. I have made new acquaintances and friends. I have seen people that I had not seen in 50 years. It is a great escape and a blast from the past.... Mark your calendars, and please come and enjoy the food, music, dancing, and a great visiting time.

I have retired from the Casino & now driving a school bus. Never thought I would be doing this, but I love it.

Sally will be remembered by her beautiful smile, kindness and her great sense of humor.

Billy Edwin Hill, Class of 1955 died on October 31, 1998. He was preprint coordinator for Florida Today in Melbourne, Florida. While in high school, Bill participated in track, basketball and football as team co-captain. His track record helped him to be inducted into the WWHS Hall of Fame. He attended Murray State College on a football/track scholarship and graduated from Mars hall University in 1959. Following college he became advertising director for Island Creek Coal Company in Logan, WV. He later joined the Columbia Gas System in Charleston as advertising director for the Charleston Group Companies. While in Charleston, he worked as a broadcaster for local basketball and football games. He also served as an adjunct professor at Charleston University, teaching courses in sales and advertising. In 1976 he moved to Melbourne, FL where he became a salesman and national sales manager for Florida Today. Bill was very involved with the American Advertising Federation. In Charleston, WV, he was president of the Charleston Ad Club and secretary of the Fifth District AAF. He was a founding member of the Space Coast Advertising Federation, where he served two terms as president and more recently treasurer. He served on the National AAF board of directors and was awarded the highest local honor - the Silver Medal Award. Survivors include his wife, Linda Wright Hill, '55 son Timothy Hill of Huntington, WV, daughter Debra Petty of South Point, OH sisters Ellen White of Barboursville, WV. and Jacque Hill Scites of Melbourne, FL brothers Joseph Hill of Columbia, SC and Denis Hill or Renton, WA and nine grandchildren.
