Now living in: Point Pleasant, WV
Date: Thursday, February 10, 2005
Comments: Hi to all my classmates. I've had a good life since graduation. Used to walk home with Treadway, you probably don't remember me.
I was vey short, petite and very quiet.
I left Beckley in that summer of "68. My parents returned the family to Prestonsburg, KY. I started college at the University
of KY, Prestonsburg that fall. I had worked the summer to earn the money for college. I spent two years there. Left KY in August
of "70 to marry Trenton Stover ('65), he bacame an accountant we lived in Huntington for a short time. We moved to Point Pleasant in
1972. He now owns his own firm in Point Pleasant.
I continued with college, received my BA in Library Sciene Media K-12 and Art Visual Media, k-12 in 1974 from Marshall University.
Began Marshalls' graduate school in the summer of '74. In 1974 I began teaching 5th and 6th grade reading in the Mason Co. school system,
I taught there for one year. I was hired as Librarian/Media Specialists at Gallia Academy High School, Gallipolis, OH. I have
been here 30 years in the July 7 of "05.
Trenton "Tim" Stover and I divorced in 1976. We had no children. I remarried in 1978 to an engineer from Louisiana. We
stayed in Point, he traveled a lot to jobs and he traveled overseas to Iran and Pakistain for E
on-Standard Oil. Upon his
return we had one daughter, Lacy, Jan. 29 1981. In his next travels with E
on, he was inspecting a rig for them in Denver
CO. when the floor he was walking on gave way. He died on May 5, 1981. After that, I began to pour all of my energy
into raising my beautiful daughter and finishing a Masters degree in Education, k-8, May, 1984. In February of 1982, while
at my church I met a wounderful man, Jessie R. Hamm, 1st Sgt, 3664th Army National Guard. He was divorced and had two daughters
ages 10 and 5. we began seeing each other and fell in love. We married in November of 1984. He adopted my daughter Lacy in 1986. We
have a wonderful family, two of our girls have graduated fron WVU one is a teacher and owns her own daycare and the other
is an accountant with Holzer Hospitals' new cancer unit. Our youngest, Lacy is becoming a nurse and will be persueing a medical
degree. My husband barely missed Dessert Strom by just hours, his unit was ready to pull out when the war ended. This time around,
we discovered he had developed a genetic heart disease that his dad died of,
and that had caused two of his brother's heart attacks, soooo he wasn't allowed to particiate in Iraq Freedom. (We felt he wasn't missing
anything anyway and don't agree with this war either, as we were apposed to the Vietman war too.) They retired him on
Feb. 13, 2004. He now loves being retired. He has taken over my household duties, and a better cook than I ever was. We have
two very wonderful pets that take up a lot of his time, (canines, a peek-a-poo , Muffin and shitz-tsu, Pete. They love to ride with
him in our old restored "57 Chevy and our old '87 Vet. I'm struggling with wheather to retire this year or not, and haven't made up
my mind yet.
Would like to hear any information about Ruth Ann Basham, we were best friends in 9th grade but lost that when we went to the
new school. Glenna Cline Cole has died Oct. 13, 2004, cancer, another one of my best friends. Are we all 55 now? Keep in touch.

Comments: The ones of you that did keep in touch know and for the ones that didn't here goes, by the way Tim Burket I still remember you hitting me in the eye with a play gun when I was five. OK lets see how everyone did in math ( I did lousy my self). I still have the same phone number and live in the same house I grew up in, what's different is that I can now look out my front door and see the YMCA and I'm older than dirt. I have been married many times, the first time when I was seventeen and by the time I was thirty I had already been married a half dozen times, I must have been trying to be a movie star the hard way and yes I did have a wash and wear wedding dress, and I still didn't get hooked on drugs or alcohol. My last husband, Ken (eleven years my junior) and I have been together for more than twenty-five years now, I have four wonderful children Barry 38, Shawn soon to be 37, Erin Heather 35 and twenty-two years after my daughter was born, I gave birth to Spen who is now 13. My daughter and I were almost pregnant at the same time, her first child was born November 27, 1990 and I got pregnant with Spen ( no accident ) on December 21, 1990 and he's perfect, I also have seven grandchildren and was a great-grandmother at 47. Now you say what else did she do with her life between all those marriages and babies, well a lot of things while I was trying to find myself. While not married one of the things I did was be the first woman to be a Certified UPS driver in Beckley and be the first woman to work on the actual building of the United Mine Academy in Raleigh County. I also drove a thirteen-speed dump truck out of Beckley Stone for a while, then I went from one extreme to another and worked as a cosmetologist at The Hair Port in Beckely the same building a lot of us use to party in when it was The Rale Club. My favorite place of course was always Pete & Bob's Drive-Inn, we were all deprived and Beckley really lost the day that Pete & Bob's Drive-Inn died, you just don't close a landmark. I did really lousy in school I just couldn't get it, someone once said to me and I wish I could remember whom, they didn't understand how I could not learn some things and be so smart when it came to other things. I didn't either until 1990 when I was watching a talk show and what they were talking about sounded so familiar to me that I got in touch with a psychologist and they had me tested. I'm ADHD and back when all of us went to school you passed because of age not your grades so if you were one of the ones that thought I was stupid, wrong I have a very high IQ. Everything you have heard or read about ADHD fits me up one side and down the other, I guess that's why I do things my way. I have always been a very prissy out spoken, tom boy, red neck, rebel, that loved everybody and loved to go four wheeling, camping, swimming, motorcycles riding and still do. I didn't know why, but in 1996 I wanted a computer and I had no idea how one worked either, they just fascinated me, until then the only computer I had ever touch was a child's Pico for ages three to seven. So Ken bought us our first computer and we self-taught our selves everything and then talked all our family and friends into computers, today we're computer poor, what was once the dining room is now the computer room. I did my first web page the old fashion way in 96, I had to write it HTML and let me tell you that was a trip in its self. I'm not very big into chat though, but I love what I can look up and design with my computer. My mother tried to teach me to sew, but I was to busy climbing trees and chasing the boys and now I own a computerized Brother's ULT2002D Disney Embroidery Machine and just love it, I should have listened to my mother. I am also the president of the United Neighborhood Crime and Improvement Watch, which I helped start in 96. I guess what I'm trying to say is I didn't even know the real me until the last few years, but I've had a blast finding my self. Throughout the years I have thought of and remembered many of you and always wondered if any of you ever thought of me. No matter who we are or what we have done with our lives or what we have or don't have, we all have the same destiny. Life, well I did it my way.
Cheers and Love to all,
Bambi

After graduating from WWHS in 1968 I joined the Air Force and spent 20 years traveling around the world living in such places
as San Antonio, TX, Biloxi, MS, Rapid City, SD, Bangkok, Thailand, Washington D.C., Ubon, Thailand, Warner Robins, GA,

moved to a place where I wanted to live in 2004 which is Grand Prairie, TX (southwest of Dallas). I was tired of the traffic
in the Northeast corridor and the winters in PA. I am divorced and have 3 wonderful children Michele 32, Michael 30, and
Daniel 26 which I am proud to say I raised myself. I have a wonderful woman (Kathy)

Comments: HELLO FELLOW CLASSMATES OF WWHS 1968. I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE MY STORY WITH EVERYONE READING THIS.
ON AUGUST 12, 1968 I WAS MARRIED TO CLARENCE CHAPMAN AND HAVE SINCE GIVEN BIRTH TO FOUR WONDERFUL CHILDREN,
STEPHANIE, RACHEL, RYAN, AND AMANDA. CLARENCE PASSED AWAY SUDDENLY IN 1992 AND I WAS LEFT TO RAISE OUR CHILDREN ON MY OWN.
IN 1999 AFTER THE KIDS WERE GROWN, AND I REALIZED I NEEDED TO GET A BETTER EDUCATION TO BE ABLE TO SUPPORT MYSELF THE
REST OF MY DAYS I STARTED INVESTIGATING WHAT I NEEDED TO DO TO GET A GED DIPLOMA. YOU SEE, TWO WEEKS BEFORE GRADUATION
IN 68, I WAS CALLED TO MRS. THOMPSON'S OFFICE AND TOLD I WAS A HALF CREDIT SHORT AND COULDN'T GRADUATE WITH MY CLASS.
MY OLDEST DAUGHTER STEPHANIE WAS WORKING IN THE ADMISSIONS DEPT AT MSU AND ADVISED ME TO GO TO THE BOARD OF ED AND
GET MY RECORDS TO SEE IF I WOULD QUALIFY TO TAKE CLASSES TO EARN MY DIPLOMA. WHAT I FOUND OUT WAS PROFOUND!
I ACTUALLY HAD A HALF CREDIT MORE THAN I NEEDED TO GRADUATE FOR YOU SEE, IN 1998, CREDITS WERE ADDED BY HAND, THE MISTAKE
WAS MADE BY HUMAN ERROR, A MISTAKE THAT PROBABLY CHANGED THE DIRECTION OF MY WHOLE LIFE.
I DID GET AN APOLOGY IN THE FORM OF A LETTER FROM THE SCHOOL BOARD AND A PRINTED DIPLOMA. UNFORTUNATELY THE DIPLOMA WAS PRINTED
WITH THE CLASS OF 1999 AND REFLECTS MY GRADUATING THEN.
I WAS ALSO TOLD I COULD RECEIVE IT THEN, WHICH I DECLINED TO DO.
I AM PROUD TO SAY I HAVE MOVED FORWARD WITH MY LIFE AND HAVE ACCOMPLISHED A PERSONAL GOAL. I WAS PROMOTED TO ASSISTANT MANAGER
OF A COMPANY I HAVE BEEN EMPLOYED WITH SINCE 1989. I NOW RESIDE IN BECKLEY AND WORK AT WAL-MART 2933 IN PRINCETON. I HAVE MY FIRST
GRANDCHILD AND AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE FUTURE.

he has my dad's blue eyes, and wonder if as he grows up he'll enjoy things my dad did, right now i can only guess. My dad
has two sisters, Janet and Linda. Both live out of state, and I don't ever see or talk to one and rarely the other since my
dad's death in November of 1993. I know my dad played football, i saw his name in the trophy case at woodrow some years
back. At some point he was a merchant marine. His first wife's name was Cecil, I think, they dated in high school, I think.
My dad was a coal miner and died in the mines when I was 13.
He was a good man and wonderful dad. Would have been an amazing grandpa. Oh, and I think my dad might have played drums in a
band. If anyone knows anything please let me know.
Sincerely,
Monica Miller Plumley

on Fri. nite and I married Rob Frazier ('67) on Sunday. And we are still sweethearts! We have a son, Jason-30,
and a daughter, Erin-25. Jay has given us 2 granddaughters and Erin has given us 2 granddogs!! We moved to Fl. in
'79 and it is totally our home. We do still try to make it thru Beckley every year or two though. Rob is the manager
for D.W. Trucking (construction) and I am in administration at Teco Peoples Gas. Unfornately we missed the last reunion
for class of '67. We've gone to most of them and loved it. We've never kept up with any dates for the ones for '68. We
already have a vacation set to celebrate our 35th anniversary so won't make it for this summer reunion either.

I am a teacher at Gulf High School here in Florida, where
I teach Geometry and Algebra II. I'm not married and don't have any kids so I have plenty
of time to devote to this website and the website of the school where I teach. Some of
my students have told me I need to get a life, and they are probably correct. After
high school, I attended college two years and dropped out and was subsequently drafted,
so I enlisted in the Air Force. After my stint in the AF, I worked in radio before I
became a teacher.

find out where you are, about your family, and about what you are now doing in life. Married for 31
years to Jerry Wiley, I am the mother of two loving children, Brent, age 30, and Melanie, age 20. I
have worked for West Virginia University for the last 15 years as a licensed social worker and research
associate in the field of developmental disabilities. I never really knew what a "social worker" was
when I graduated in 1968, but somehow was lead into this line of work. I believe I always had it in me
to be a "helper" to others, so I have found this work to be satisfying, very challenging and rewarding.
I hope to write a book some day, but NOT about social services in West Virginia. Apres moi, le deluge. Debbie Dee

Comments: Miss Ruth Larew, our guidance counselor, deserves much credit for reaching in to the "careers black hat" and pulling out a bunny neither of us knew much about in 1967: computers? huh? Her magic saved me from the inevitable result of two years in Future Teachers of America. After all, I joined only because Susan Frilen (Sipprel) was president.
In June of 1968, I began work at the West Virginia University Computer Center for minimum wage: almost three pay phone calls for each hour of work ($1.40). Teachers in West Virginia were making $6,500 annually, and "minimum wage" seemed like a meal deal to me. The biggest shortcoming was missing a summer with MAC.
{BTW: If 232-84-6933 reads this, I've been stalking you on the internet. Maybe Jeff will reconnect us.}
In August 1968 my college counselor told me that WVU would offer a degree in computer science when I graduated. He was correct. The University offered a Ph. D. in comp sci, and in 1972 I received a B. A. in mathematics and a 2 of Lt in Air Force.
This seemed a little too close to Vietnam to me, and I enrolled at the University of Wisconsin in Madison for graduate work in computer science. Now it seems only a dangling conversation on Sunday evenings when I would listen to Robert File, (John) Bill Gray, Edwin Ratcliffe, and Mike Vaughn discuss how wrong the war was. Everett Pennington of the class of '68 was injured in Vietnam. He didn't attend WWHS, but the name of Louis Rollins is on THAT wall as KIA by small-arms fire. Louis, a graduate of Stratton, joined the USMC rather than be drafted. He also spent many summer afternoons teaching this little boy how to shoot free throws.
Before I finished a master's, the USAF thought my education would benefit more by five years at Wright-Patterson AFB followed by a year at Norton AFB. I was a systems programmer for IBM mainframes all that time. As others have noted on this web page, the next week I completed 20 years of computer-related work for Electronic Data Systems Corp. Yes, I met H. Ross. Even better, I had dinner with his daughter Nancy Perot, who was intelligent and--not that I have anyone to compare her to--gracious and unassuming for an heir to a billion dollars or so.
Now the psychologists out there (in here?) are analyzing the preceding. There's no mention of family, achievements. (My only marriage was 92-98, and I have no children.) There's just a mountaineer of room for reading between the lines. Echo '68 says, "Just when you think tomorrow will never come, it's yesterday." Oh, that's next to someone named Rusty TreAdway. My last name has only one "a."

Comments: Since I posted my first message I wrote this as part of an e-mail response to do a dear old friend. Thanks, Trudy Fisher, for putting me in touch with her and I would like to hear from you too. Here is a rather lengthy bio.
After graduation I went to WVU for a year, but wasn't prepared academically to succeed so I substituted study with music, girls and drugs. I of course was flunking out, so I bought a plane ticket to California and strapped my guitar to my suitcase and set out on a life adventure.
Did you ever hear of the Whiskey-a Go-Go. Dylan was playing there and the car, I and fellow travelers were in, was parked around the corner. My guitar was stolen and my future music career hit the skids. Yeah, right!
We continued up the coast highway and when we passed through Big Sur I decided it was too beatiful to continue on. I got out and set up my sleeping bag on the sea cliffs and enjoyed the great outdoors, although I was very hungry and out of money. I met a man and some teenagers there who would later become a temporary family back in LA.
I continued hitch-hiking to San Francisco and ended up in Berkley right after the anti-war riots. I slept on rooftops, in the park along with various war casualties and at crashpads around the campus. I worked day jobs and got by. The other hippies tried to teach me pan-handling in Haight-Ashbury, but my West Virginia, mountain upbringing wouldn't let me stoop to that. We may not get all our values right, but we have pride don't we?
During a Hari-Krishna festival someone laced the free food with Acid. I stayed high from that for a very long time. Actually it messed up my brain for about month and during that mental fog I hitched to LA and joined my Big Sur new aquaintances.
The man who had the crash pad owned a business in North Hollywood and I worked for him and his partner for 2 years as a printer and office manager. The partner's wife owned a separate business in that office and I also worked for her. She was in the midst of a divorce and was impressed by my tight jeans and independant attitude. I always stood up to her on business decisions.
When I left there I joined the Air Force to continue my education and get work experience. I became an electronics technician which has been the base of my profession ever since. That boss I had back in North Hollywood was named Darline and she followed me to Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi where we were married and have been so for the last 30 years. We both became Christians and devoted our lives to Jesus as lay-servants while I continued my career.
I left the Air Force in 1975 and moved to central California where I took a position as a Science Technician in a community college and I received my degree in Electronics. I stayed at the college for 14 years and spent the last 5 years as the Computer and Audio Visual Services Manager. I resigned from there 11 years ago and my wife and I went in to a full-time self-supported teenagers ministry for the next 3 years. We saw around 300 Tulare, California teenagers put their in faith in Christ and are now enjoying watching them grow and raise families.
In 1993 I joined the workforce again with the Tulare County Office of Education as the manager of the Computer/Audio Visual Repair Depot and I am still there and have added department Network Administrator to my duties.
I have one Step-Daughter, Rhonda, but I left out the step, and raised her as my own. She had one daughter, Misty, who now has three girls and one boy ages 8-months to 7 years. I bet none of you have great-grandchildren yet.
I would like to hear from you and renew old aquaintances.
Your classmate,
Tim

Have two children, Brady 27, Kristi 23, one grandchild, Taylor 3. Children living in Big
Stone Gap too. I love being a grandma! Divorced and remarried. I visit Beckley often,
Big Stone Gap is about 3 hrs. away. My husband Bill and I own and operate Rogers "66" Market
and Quick Lube. Big Stone Gap is a small, historic, beautiful town. Outdoor drama
"The Trail of the Lonesome Pine", five museums, and senic beauty galore. There is a
book out called "Big Stone Gap" and movie
to follow this fall. Can you tell that I am into tourism? Would love to hear from classmates.
