1959 newspaper photo, with this caption: "Excavation for construction of the new United States Post Office at Sprague are begun by B and B Construction Co. of Beckley on the Valley Drive site near the North Kanawha Street intersection. The 2,171 square foot building across the highway from the present post office location is scheduled for occupancy Aug. 1 according to an announcement by Congressman John M. Slack. A contract has been awarded Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Phillips of Greensboro, N. C., for construction of the building to be leased to the United States Post Office Department for a 10-year period with options for renewal of the lease.
