Yes, it has been nearly 30 years since June 12, 1970. That new math sure came in handy! I could have never figured that out otherwise. Let me see... it went something like this... move to Florida... WVU one year... back to FL.. off to the Navy to see the world (Spain)... back to FL... graduate from FIU in Miami... get a job (OK, there have been a few)... get married... have 1, 2, 3 daughters... After looking at the other entries, guess I'd better say more. I moved to Fl (near West Palm Beach) in 1979. Got my Master's in Social Work, and now am the Director of the inpatient and intake units of the Mental Health Center. Unlike most of the people that have signed, I am happily divorced since 1992, (which explains that I have the same last name, again)... and have no children, but 3 wonderful dogs. I had signed in earlier but wanted to provide some more details this time around. First, hello to everyone, especially the members of the class of 1975 and to everyone at Woodrow from 1973 to 1977.
I wanted to say a special hello to all of the guys who spent their afternoons hanging out with Preach, Coach Hicks, Coach "Cool", Coach Parham, Jackie Joe, Coach Mosley and others. We all know of the thrill of running the trail, the athletic building, the gym and the pleasure of representing the school and town. A special shout out to the uncrowned 1974 State Football Champs (should we all get together and run down Charleston Catholic just for the hell of it?).
I'm now in Winston-Salem for 18 years and remarried. I'm still a semi-jock in that I am a college football official in the Southern Conference and a high school basketball. Ofcourse I'm invited to join the Southern the year before Marshall leaves to join the Mid-American. To all the MU grads, I'm an Ohio University alumnus, so remember we are the true Green and White standard bearer of the MAC, irregardless of Randy Moss, Bob Pruett and the others.
I had the privelege of officiating the boy's 4-A state basketball championship game in 1999, but it wasn't the same as playing for one. The names Logan and Barboursville are still dirty words in my vocabulary.
On a more serious note, I am currently president of the Junior Achievement organization in Winston-Salem. If there are others who participated in the JA program at WWNR in 1975, please contact me. I'd love to hear from you about the experience.
